Summary

A compilation of amateur films which includes two weddings, a christening and outings to West Sussex beaches.

Description

Wedding guests arrive at All Saints Church in Lindfield. The bride arrives by car - she wears a cream day dress and a floral headpiece. The newlyweds appear at the church door - the groom wears a Merchant Navy (?) uniform. Interior shots at the wedding reception include footage of the cake being cut. The couple are later seen leaving the reception by car. (Colour)

The couple whose wedding is in the above footage are next seen at the christening of their baby. The husband, now in civilian clothes, holds the baby whilst guests mingle outside the church. (B&W)

The young couple spend time with their growing child (now a toddler) in a garden. (Colour)

Footage of a second wedding reception follows, including images of speeches being made and of the newlyweds cutting the cake. Following the sit-down meal, the newly married couple are waved off by their guests following the sit-down meal. (B&W)

Guests arrive at the wedding of the reception detailed above. The newlyweds pose for photographs outside the church before having confetti thrown over them by their guests. (Colour)

A man mows the grass with a hand-powered lawn mower. Crates bound for Mexico and New York sit in one of the greenhouses at 'Charlesworth and Co. Orchids' nursery. A family take tea in the garden - a young spaniel takes centre stage. (B&W)

Images of Brighton seafront, including the boating lake, are followed by footage of a Punch and Judy show. The seafronts of Rottingdean (?) and Eastbourne are filmed. A lighthouse looks out to sea from a jetty. (Colour)

A small domesticated monkey sits on a boy's shoulder and then on the back of a donkey. A spaniel is frightened by dairy calves in a field. Young girls handle kittens. (B&W)

A young couple attempt to dance the jive in a garden. Men, some in uniform, drink beer in a garden. A giant 'V' for victory sign is visible on a hillside. The film ends with families paddling in the shallows on a sandy beach. (Colour)
