Home movie footage, shot at the beach near a family's seaside home in Sussex in the 1930s. A great deal of sailing footage is also included.

A boy leaves a house and walks through the garden, out of the gate and to the beach. He takes off his robe and runs into the water in his bathing costume. He swims in the water, smiling at the camera, and runs through the breakers. His parents hand him a towel and drape his robe over him, before the group walks back to the house. Young children play on the beach with a dog and their parents. A man paddles a canoe between the rocks. He is pushed through the water by other family members. A man wades into the water, running and splashing, before swimming and kicking wildly. Children are seen, splashing in the breakers with inflatable rings. They dry on the beach and the couple in the canoe paddle to shore. Two men fix rigging and sails to a dinghy with wide berth. Several family members push the boat into the water using logs and rope. One of the men pulls the boat to a jetty, while another rows out to the boat. The boat is seen from another vessel, sails open, gliding across the water. An old man is seen, putting his shoes on at the beach. Another is shown on the boat, smoking a pipe. Two women walk across the dunes from a house. Other family members leave the house and drive way in motorcars, leaving a maid at the door. The family arrive at another house, where a maid takes helps them with their cases. Two dogs play fight on the sand. A couple walks with many more animals on the beach. A boat is seen, moored near the house. A man works on the boat, painting and mixing liquids on the hard. Other boats are seen. Further sailing footage, shot from a boat, follows, showing boats from a distance and the passengers on board. Family members swim in the shallows, while the dogs run over the rocks and swim with the men and women. The dry off and walk back to the house.
