Description

The film begins with scenes of the family on the beach at Bognor and on the Esplanade, as the family stroll along the sea front, and sit on a bench as the camera takes portraits shots of them talking. In a garden Pam plays with a black cat, and the family stand talking and smiling at the camera. The next shot is a high street in Bognor, and the front of the Staley family shop with awning facing the street. Further portrait shots of an older couple standing with the family on the Espalande, followed by individual shots of the pair. In the lounge of a house, several family members including Ralph and Mrs Staley (Ralph's mother) sit reading books and a large broadsheet newspaper. The next part of the film shows a hunt at Goodwood. A pack of bloodhounds stand ready with their handlers, accompanied by several mounted riders. Shots of a row of cars is followed by several aircraft taking off from a nearby airfield. The Staley family is seen getting into and out of their car following the hunt along the route. Several of the mounted riders pass the camera along the route. The family then join the mounted riders at the stables, later to be joined by the pack of hounds. A woman in a bowler hat (Silvia) mounted on a horse talks to Mrs Staley dressed in a fir coat. On a second hunt, the hounds and riders are seen in close-up followed by several people walking behind them. The Staley family are seen taking a walk in the countryside, whilst Pam pushes a huge toy sailboat on a trailer (Tutti) and plays with Nellie and a doll for the camera. Pam pets the hounds as the hunt gathers at the 'Grand Stand Paddock' near Goodwood House, and the group moves off to continue their hunt. At home Pam is seen in bed playing the board game 'Sorry'.
