Summary

This amateur film records a garden party held by Surrey County Council at Wotton Fire Service College. Guests are entertained by folk dancing, and are privy to a fire fighting display.

Description

Lt Col H.J. Wells, the Chairman of Surrey County Council, greets his guests as they arrive in the grounds of Wotton Fire Service College. A brass band plays for them as they mingle, and later enjoy an alfresco sit down meal before the rains disrupt the day. When the sunshine returns, the guests are entertained by children performing various folk dances.

Members of the Surrey Fire Brigade offer the guests a fire fighting display. The firemen ascend the fire towers of the training centre on ladders. A convoy of fire-engines arrives and 'victims' are removed from the towers via ropes and fireman's lifts. Extending ladders rise above the fire-engines and firemen string a flag displaying the Surrey County Council arms out between them. The display ends with powerful hoses shooting water at the towers.
