The Merton & Morden Youth Cine Club record teenage boys competing in a range of sporting activities during the 1963 Surrey County Youth Pentacross. The event, organized by the Youth Service of Surrey County Council's Education Department, was for Surrey youth organizations.
The film opens with footage of the teenage entrants participating in the orienteering section of the Pentacross through the Surrey woodlands. On 19th May motorcyclists compete in a cross-country event at The Chantries campsite in Guildford. Cross-country runners prepare for their race - the officials, some of whom are from the Civil Defence Corps, hand out numbers to the entrants and wait for them at the checkpoints. Cyclists race through the streets of Surbiton and canoeists traverse a course on the River Thames. The film ends with the tallying of scores and the awarding of prizes to the victors.
