Summary

Boys at Burwood Park School for the Profoundly Deaf climb Swiss mountains and toboggan on the slopes, and play a football match back at the school in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, in around 1958.

Description

Boys from Burwood Park School for the Profoundly Deaf climb steps to the deck of a ferry to Switzerland. They wear matching red and yellow bobble hats and black coats. They walk together in the mountains along a wooded trail, blanketed with snow, and toboggan on the slopes towards wooden houses below. Outside one of the chalets, the boys put their boots on, sitting on low wooden benches, and retrieve wooden toboggans, before setting out. The camera pans across snowcapped mountains, where the boys climb up before looking out on to the landscape. Upon leaving the chalet, the boys gather rucksacks and suitcases before heading off. One boy drops his belongings, and the others gather them up from the ground. Scenes filmed at a football match on a pitch in front of Burwood Park School, built as a manor house in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, close the film.
