Description

The film opens with a shot of a sign: "Burwood Park School", a notice has been attached to the sign which reads "1956". Pupils take part in a football match on a playing field which is refereed by Mr Faragher; a few people watch from the edge of the pitch. Shots follow of a rounders game; boys run between the posts. Boys playing football again, this time at Mary Hare Grammar School; the match is intersected with shots of sheep in a nearby field; spectators hold placards. Shots of tennis matches and dark shots of the surrounding countryside and a rainbow. Sign: "Burwood Park School", a boy is seen attaching a notice onto the sign which reads: "1957"; a school cap hangs off the corner. Pupils take part in cross-country running, following which there are dark shots of a sports day; a bouquet of flowers is presented to Lady Boyd. Shots of a cricket match; the teams pose for photographs. Boys play with hamsters on the grass and another group lean out of the windows of the Hobbies Room; Miss Prentice can be seen with the boys, wearing a white coat and holding a hamster. Shots of boys in school uniform. The film ends with shots of a football match; the teams [Ewing and Lennox-Boyd] line up for photographs. Boys dressed in their Sunday best head off for the church service accompanied by Mr Dalziell.
