Collection Carousel: Modern Marvels

Summary

‘Modern Marvels’ was part of the Silver Screen project, a partnership between Carousel and Screen Archive South East.

Young people with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs explored the film heritage of Brighton & Hove and produced four short films inspired by archive film originaly created by George Albert Smith and James Williamson.

This final anthology of material was screened on a mobile exhibition unit displayed in several venues across Brighton and Hove.

School Film: 'The Horrors’ made by the school formerly known as Downs Park – now called Hill Park
 
Heritage film: 'Santa Claus' by George Albert Smith (1898)
School Film:  'Bad Santa’ made by Headstart College, Ninfield
 
Heritage Film: ‘A Kiss in the Tunnel’ by George Albert Smith - (1899)
School Film: 'Ghost Train’ made by the school formerly known as Downs Park – now called Hill Park
 
Heritage Film: 'Stop Thief!’ by James Williamson (1901)
School Film: 'Magical Teapot’ made by Downs View Life Skills College
